Since the 19th century, the character of a child sonfronted with his/her times has become an unalienable part of both literatur efor children and "high" literature. Especially the portrayal of adolescents and their conflicts with inner and outer environment expresses clearly the confirmation or relativisation of current value systems and tests of stable and temporary values.
The thematisation of adolescence (both male and female) is also reflected in the language itself.
