Abstract
The article briefly introduces the thesis of an influential essay written by a highly respected Canadian philosopher. It questions if his findings on multiculturalism and the challenges it presents to the contemporary society remain valid outside of the Western world, particularly in the modern, secular, yet still principally multireligious India.
