This paper deals with relationship between self-esteem and health-related behaviour. Concerning that previous studies used mainly correlation of self-esteem with few and separated variables of health-compromising behaviour, we decided to utilize more complex approach.

We included in our study also variables of health-supportive behaviour and used factor and cluster analysis to obtain several types of lifestyle instead of working with separate varia- bles. Besides of Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale we also used Tafarodi and Swann Self-liking/Self-competence Scale to identify inner structure of self-esteem.

The study was conducted on population of 376 participants, mainly college students. The results showed one type of lifestyle that differed in self-esteem from the others and some weak correlations between self-esteem and factors of health-supportive behaviour.

We were unable to confirm either any statistically significant relation between self-esteem and factors of health-compromising behaviour or relation with single variables of health-compromising behaviour.
