Vánoce ("Christmas") as a Key Word of the Czech Culture (Opening remarks on the Ethnolinguistic Research)

Abstract
The contribution represents the first step in research of the Czech concept VÁNOCE. Presenting in the context of previous studie on the concepts DOMOV ("home", "homeland!), and POHODA ("comfort", "calmness", "O.K."), entries in several Czech dictionaries are studied to reveal the reflection of meaning of the word Vánoce.
On the basis of the empirical research, the rituals and scenarios connected with Christmas Eve are mentioned, and some topics of community discussion about Christmas (Ježíšek - "little Jesus", i. e. the Czech magic person who brings children Christmas gifts).
