Abstract
The article deals with the specifics of arterial hypertension in the elderly population and the act of providing pharmaceutical care in pharmacy. In the elderly, there are involution changes in all organ systems, this is a reason why it is necessary to look at the elderly patients individually.
Individual approach should be maintained while providing health care and therapy. Pharmacists should be able to assess and highlight potential risks associated with the pharmacotherapy of diseases, and educate the patient about the proper handling and administration of the drugs.
Monitoring adverse events is a very important skill of pharmaceutical specialists. The pharmacists should also be able to promote adherence to treatment, provide sufficient information about the use and the dose of drug or recommend appropriate self-treatment if necessary.
