The following recommendations for the diagnosis and therapy of Hepatitis C virus infections were developed by members of the viral hepatitis working groups of the Czech hepatological society CLS JEP and the Society for infectious diseases CLS JEP.The recommendations are based on those issued earlier by the European association for liver studies (EASL) in April 2014. They define a preferred approach to the HCV infections.
There are always several approaches listed in the case of chronic HCV infections. This is due to the fast developments in the area of new antiviral drugs and their uneven use in the clinical practice in the individual countries. The availability of individual drugs can then represent a limiting factor for the utilization of the optimal regimen.
The maximal adherence to the recommendations is a prerequisite to achieve the effective care for the HCV patients countrywide. This document represents also a basis for the negotiations between the two medical societies with the government and medical insurance companies.
