Abstract

Magnesium materials are excellent candidates for structural applications where low weight plays an important role. However, Mg and its alloys possess low stiffness and strength compared with aluminum alloys.

One way to enhance the strength of Mg is to reinforce it with stronger particles or fibers of the second phase, essentially forming composite microstructures.
