In this article we present a lingvodidactic method called theatre pedagogy (referred to in the following text as "MJT"), which is used in teaching Czech for foreigners. The primary goal of MJT is to positively influence the acquisition of language.
Through theatre practices we help students to overcome their fear when talking (ie, reduce the fear of making a mistake while speaking) and strengthen communication, interaction and social skills. The basic pillar of this method is learning through experience.
Nevertheless, the importance of cognitive learning is essential and not to be ignored. This is the reason why in the second part of the article, we explain the MJT approach to teaching grammar.
The focus is on grammatical difficulties that regularly occur when using Czech as a foreign language. Selected phrases are used to show the possibilities of teaching grammar through experience driven activities such as theatre.
