Abstract
The article deals with the past and the present of the wolf (Canis lupus) as species present in Bohemian and Moravian nature. It deals with historical, social and legal aspects related to the return of this species to the Czech nature.
It also emphasizes the necessity of functional protection and education towards tolerance to large carnivores.
