Abstract
A commentary on the photography of an encounter of the Czech athlete Zdena Koubkova and the American dancer Josephine Baker is focused on the phenomenon of woman's corporeal diversity in the 1930s. Koubkova's athletic masculine fysis and Baker's negro savage sensuality figure as signifiers of modern socio-cultural transformation of the interwar period.
