OUTDOOR STUDIES STUDENT'S TENDENCY TO SENSATION SEEKING IN RELATION TO THEIR PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract

In present article we focus on the topic of sensation and its seeking in the group of students of study programme or study field Outdoor Activities. The aim group consisted of students of Out door Activities among the Charles University in Prague and the University of J.

E. Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem.

The research sample consists of 81 students. As a research method was used a test NEO-FFI and for tendency to gain sensations was chosen the Senseation Seeking Scale.

When comparing examined samples of students of Outdoor Activities among Charles University and University of J. E.

Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem were not find any significant differences. Therefore we have worked further as with homogenous file and compared those results with the population average.

We found out more significant score in subscale in extraversion and negative correlation in subscale of neuroticism. Moreover, we consider significant higher score in subcale of conscientiousness.

In the Senseation Seeking Scale students had higher score in senseation seeking tendency. We foundout some significant connection between thrill and adventure seeking and extraversion.
