Abstract

The chapter focuses on the life story of Princess Josephine Lobkowicz, who was the mother of the famous racing driver George Christian Lobkowicz. The main attention is paid to her destiny in Communist Czechoslovakia.

Lobkowicz was observed of the State Police in the fifties. She was suspected of spying for Western powers.

This activity, however, it has never been proven. Lobkowicz many years vainly sought to leave Czechoslovakia.

She obtained the permission in 1959. She went into exile in Austria, where her family lived and where she later died.

The study also reflects the wide range of social contacts of Lobkowicz and her interests, among which sport stood at the forefront.
