In 1862, Miroslav Tyrš founded the Sokol organization, which was the first sport organization in the Slavic environment. He provided Sokol with the gymnastic content, developed Sokol gymnastic system, and gave Sokols their mission in the Czech society and their most important holiday - the Sokol Slet.
His work had a great response within other Slavic nations. Among the first who signed up to Tyrš's legacy were the Slovenians.
Therefore, Tyrš is also part of the history of the Slovenian Sokol.
