Publication at Faculty of Physical Education and Sport |
2014

Abstract

The monograph focuses on the history of the second oldest ski club in the Czech environment. It presents its different tasks in individual stages of the development of Czech society and the Czech sport since the late 19th century to the present.

Initially, the focus was on the promotion of skiing. From the foundation of Czechoslovakia until the late fifties, the club concentrated the best ski racers.

After the changes in the organization of the Czechoslovak sport, the club became a training centre for promising skiers, who subsequently went into the top level sport centres. Besides the development of the club, the book introduces the most important and most famous club members, the big races, organized by the club up to today, and also the technical background.

This publication is also a contribution to the history of the Giant Mountain region.
