Shifts in Approaches to Expressing Religious Topics in the Poetry of Japanese Medieval Monks

Abstract

The main topic of this chapter is an analysis of different ways of incorporating religious (in this case Buddhist) topics in the poetry of Japanese medieval monks Sesson Yūbai (1290-1347) and Zekkai Chūshin (1334-1405).
