Globalisation and the position of Contemporary Russian Language seen by Interpreters

Abstract

Globalisation has affected all fields of human activity - politics, economy, technology, culture, and also communication amongst languages. The contemporary Russian Language, namely that used by the mass media, is influenced by, especially, English, i.e. by English financial, IT, marketing and advertising terminology, youth culture sland, political jargon, etc., and interpreters working into and from Russian must be able to cope with this fact.

It is a paradox that to understand modern day Russian properly, they should be able to master the English Language.
