The article analyzes the intertextual theory and practice in the works of Czech linguist and literary historian Alexandr Stich. First, the author defines Stich's conception of motif; then he characterizes Stich's (rather implicit) theory of intertextuality and the role of the author in its framework.
In the following part Stich's study Seifertova Světlem oděná is analyzed. Finally, Stich's approach is put into the context of another types of literary criticism - philological criticism, Prague structuralism or new historicism.
