Abstract

The aim of this presentation is to present the results which were obtained during the avalanche transceivers test in 2011 in Jasná, Slovakia. The independent committee of testers was comprised from professional rescuers and UIAGM mountain guides from three countries: Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland.

The transceivers were tested according to the DAV methodology plus some more tests were performed with special emphasis on the compatibility with walkie talkies and smart phones. We investigated if these devices might influence the beacons and if yes how.

Therefore the range of transceivers with and without the additional device was measured. Altogether 14 types and 150 pieces of beacons were tested.

The submeter accuracy GPS was used to measure the distances during the search session. The aim was to simulate how much the rescuer has to walk to finally find the burial.

The test results are various. Some devices performed well in one test and not so well in the other test.

The goal is not the present which of the devices is the best but show the results that were obtained.
