Prague has throughout its existence faced a major challenge in the form of supply of drinking water. One of the projects to help the capital, was the water supply for domestic hot water.
It should complement the supply of Prague and replace in certain areas of life hard water from Káraný. Projects that address this issue, were developed a few from the late 19th Century.
Their common feature was the use of the Vltava river water and in the vast majority of a water tower in the form of a dam reservoir in Štechovice.
