Abstract

Prevalence of overweight and obesity increases worldwide. Negative changes in lifestyle together with genetic factors could lead to the current obesity epidemic.

Genome-wide association studies have found many single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with obesity. The FTO gene (fat mass and obesity associated) was the first discovered candidate gene for obesity using this approach.

Our paper is a comment on the paper of Dlouha and Hubacek "FTO gene and his role in genetic determination of obesity" and adds other information about the research of FTO gene
