Wrinkles of Age Old Paradigm - Reflection of current views on religious conversion

Publication |
2014

Abstract

The subject of this article is religious conversion and the application of psychological methods and interpretive frameworks to the classic paradigm. One of the common notion about religious conversion is that new recruits are largely young people whose commitment could be explained as a function of their youth.

The second stereotype mentioned in this article is social network theory. In recent years, it appears the social contacts are not always primary kind of the first contact with newly chosen religion.

The final issue focuses on heterogenity of a group of converts and intrapsychic differences among them.
