Abstract

The general eschatological prospective as an expectation of the parusie of Christ and the personal hope of an individiual in the after-life in Christ is often considered in the New Testament Pauline studies as two poles that are in certain tension. This article offers an analysis of Phil 1:20-24, which is considered as one of the most evident witnesses of Paul's hope that from his personal death he will life fully with Christ in glory.

On the base of this text and with regard to other similar texts one can argue that both mentioned eschatological prospectives could cooexist in the early Christian thinking and that they don't exclude each other, but they are presented as two complementary aspects of the full Christian faith in the resurrection of death.
