Abstract
The chapter deals with the milieu in Central Europe after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The important topics are the EC/European Union, the role of the Federal Republic of Germany in Central Europe and the beginning of the Process of the Eastern Enlargement of the EU towards the CEE countries.
