Abstract
Application of the so-called basal insulin belongs, along with metformin, to the fundamental pillars of the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. In recent years, new molecules have been appearing on the market, which bring the basal insulin treatment on another level qualitatively.
New types of basal insulin with even more favourable properties are being developed.
