Abstract
Translators (and interpreters) as well as language services providers are currently facing a paradigm shift. Translation of non-literary texts is gradually taken over by machines, and translators find themselves in a marginalized role of post-editors.
The article discusses some cases in which the role of translators and language service providers are confronted with innovation and change. These include translation and interpretation technologies (computer aided translation, workflow automation and automated interpretation), as well as specific services (eg. post-editing machine translation and the provision of language services). "Augmented reality" stands for enhancing human capabilities enabled by technological means.
