The importance of neuropsychology in Nursing

Abstract

Biopsychosocial model is comprehensive and systematic view of relationships that affect health and disease inside and outside individuals. The disease is caused by multiple factors and health is maintained by the balance between the factors of biological, psychological, social and factors from the environment.

It is necessary to transform the biomedical approach to health care dualistic conception of somatic and mental illness to a system based on a biopsychosocial model of health and illness. He emphasizes all complicit factors in the development, progress and maintenance of the disease and thus has a requirement to integrate psychology in medical diagnosis and treatment, and to cooperate with psychosocial workers in the team.

It requires the cooperation of medicine within the nursing not only with psychology, but also philosophy and other disciplines. Part of nursing is nursing process, which includes the following phases: 1.získat client as much information 2. establish nursing diagnosis, 3rd compile a nursing care plan and implement it, 4. assess the success of its implementation.

In the first phase, in addition to observation and interview to obtain information about a patient from neuropsychological examination. Neuropsychology is a branch of science dealing with the relationship between brain function and behavior of man.

The aim is to analyze the influence of brain lesions on mental processes and behavior, finding fault these functions and establishing appropriate neuropsychological diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures including neuropsychotherapy. This makes it possible to ensure the fulfillment of holistic nursing care plan.
