Abstract
Though a major cause of morbidity in the developed countries, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) belongs to conditions not receiving adequate attention in terms of its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. A thorough history, proper timing and interpretation of results of examination combined with selection of appropriate therapy may signifi cantly reduce the overall risk of cardiovascular events.
At the same time, PAD is a marker of coronary and cerebral atherosclerosis.
