The volume is considered to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the closure of Czech universities by the German occupation régime. The book includes several articles of imprisoned students, information of the member of the Czechoslovak students' committee in exile Karel Macháček concerning the activities of Czechoslovak students in England and first time published diary of Rudolf Mašek, former student of Masaryk University in Brno who died as a pilot in the Battle of England.
Edited contemporary sources are supplemented by several newly prepared studies, memorial speeches and many documentary photographs.
