It worsens the quality of life of affected patients, increases the risk of malnutrition and infectious complications, and it has negative impact on the course of oncology care.
To reduce mucositis and its complications, available medical and nursing procedures must be used. As a minimum demand, the provision of satisfactory oral hygiene, reduction of pain and proper nutrition, hydration and medicals in a patient is necessary.
