Thymus transplatation in the treatment of primary imunodefiencies

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2014

Abstract

The thymus is a central lymphoid organ and is indispensable for T-cell development. The thymus plays a key role in the central tolerance.

The thymus transplantation is indicated in patients with primary immunodeficiency based on the athymia. The athymia leads to functional T-cell deficiency.

This treatment modality could be used in patients with complete DiGeorge syndrome.
