Abstract

Congenital heart defects are common congenital malformations. Prevalence of VSV in Czech Republic is 6.16 on 1000 live born children, it means 600 newborns with CHD per year.

According to international experience the best result has been achieved in institutions, where the all resolvable congenital heart defects ( including newborns and infants) are managed. The optimal number of cardiac surgery should be minimally 250 per year.
