Abstrakt
The social economy plays an important role in local conditions because it directly responds to specific problems and needs of citizens. The social economy and social enterpise are not legally or formally defined in the Czech Republic.
The third sector has been closely associated with the non-profit (civil) sector. Taking the name of social economy for the third sector is perhaps a limited approach, but however it is defined we can build on the country's traditions of voluntary associations and cooperatives in many areas of human activity to help create social value.
