Abstract

Type 1 diabetes is a serious disease, whose main feature is prone to hyperglycemia and acute and chronic complications that often the patient's life-threatening. It is a type of insulin-dependent diabetes, the underlying cause is the gradual reduction of own insulin secretion in B-cells of the pancreas.

More often diagnosed in childhood and younger adults, but can manifest at any time during their lives. In old age, the onset of the symptoms typical slower, and the patient may be mistakenly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes typu.Publikace provides comprehensive information on type 1 diabetes since childhood, specifics in young patients with DM1 and their treatment, to the complications of DM1 and specifics of treatment patients with DM1 in adulthood.
