Abstract

There is an obvious uncertainty concerning the effect of cardiovascular drugs with pleiotropic actions during long-term treatment of "healthy"-non-diseased individuals. To the best of our knowledge, we have shown for the first time in the prospective animal study that a long-term treatment with captopril, spironolactone or simvastatin of non-diseased rats did not lead to any undesirable structural changes of the LV or kidney and it even improved endothelial function.
