B cell activating factor (BAFF) in serum and evaluation of disease activity in systemic lupus erythematosus

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2015

Abstract

B cell activating factor of the TNF family (BAFF) has a critical importance for B cell homeostosis. B cell activation in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is associated with overproduction of BAFF.

The BAFF serum concentration was repeatedly investigated as biomarker of activity in SLE with different results. Objectives: Elucidate the problem of BAFF serum concentration as biomarker of SLE disease activity in a prospective, comparative, crossover analysis of ethnical homogenous (Caucasian) East Bohemian SLE population.
