Publication

Abstract

The aim of this certified methods is to describe the creation of spatial data (administrative boundaries) for each year of the census (population censuses) on the current territory of the Czech Republic in the years 1921 to 2011, so that the proposed method can be implemented by this description again in the future. The main purpose is to create a basis for the historical boundaries of districts and regions from population censuses and then display historical statistical data in the structure applicable in the decisive moments of population censuses.

Some of the GIS layers have been created in the modern era, and have only been obtained from other sources ČÚZK and CSO (1991-2011). For the other years it was necessary to look in the map archives o and subsequently processed the maps cartographically.

Workflow and individual activities aimed at creating shp files for use in GIS, an all of them are described in the present methodology.
