Groundwater oscillation measured in a well and its mathematical modeling

Abstract

This article states two possible models of how tidal force acting uppon a geological body manifests itself in solid phase stress and fluid phase pressure in an aquifer. Biot's theory of poroelasticity is modified and a governing equation which involves the tidal acceleration is derived from its equations.

The resulting problem is solved numerically and the results compared with actual measurement.
