Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen |
2015

Abstract

Oral and oropharyngeal mucosa damage in intensive or risky chemotherapy and very often also in relation to mTOR inhibitors treatment represents significant complication of oncological therapy. It worsens quality of life in patients, increases risk of malnutrition and infectious complications.

Relevant medical and nursing procedures may significantly reduce this complication incidence and course. As a minimum demand, the provision of satisfactory oral hygiene, reduction of pain and proper nutrition, hydration and medicals in a patient is necessary.
