Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a major complication of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantations and its chronic form aff ecting oral cavity may develop in up to one half of transplated patients. The symptoms may be very soft, with mild lichenoid changes of the mucosa, or may be severe with ulcerations, xerostomia, pains, limited oral intake, secondary infections and cancers.

The patients must keep good oral hygiene, cooperation with stomatologists is important and dexamethason (0,1 mg/ml) solutions and gels are the local treatment of choice.
