Abstract
An extended explanation of the problems of the Czech politics claims that we've not been consolidated enough - we haven't fully come to terms with the heritage of the past, we still have a lot to learn from the developed West. That is true, but only partially.
This book is trying to prove that main troubles of the Czech society and politics are not primarily connected with the communist heritage and insufficient adaptation to Western standards anymore because these are also crucial problems of the Western civilization as such. A civilization which is too much focused on "a chicken in a pot" and trapped in its own success that puts an individual into a position similar to a hamster in a wheel.
