Task divisions in teams with complementary tasks

Publication at Faculty of Social Sciences |

Abstract

Team leader and follower produce a collective good out of two complementary tasks. Both team members can contribute to both tasks; hence, multiple task divisions exist.

Multiple task divisions generate discontinuities and non-monotonicities. We observe a non-cooperative gift exchange with a cash gift and an in-kind reward.

The gift exchanges disappear for infinitely many tasks.
