Abstract

Anomalies of the lymphatic system include lymphoedema and lymphatic malformations. Lymphatic malformations represent hyperplasia of the lymphatic vessels.

We differ into microcystic, macrocystic and its combination form. Malformations occur most commonly in the head and neck areas causing functional and cosmetic difficulties.

Surgical resection, sclerotherapy (Pingyangmycin, OK 432), laser therapy, radiotherapy, electrocoagulation, cryotherapy, embolisation, ligation, and a lymphodrainage can lead to improvement of the clinical picture. Cosmetic and functional defects, damage of nerves and vessels, seroma, complicated healing, bleeding and infection complications belong among the most common therapy complications.
