Sexuality is an integral part of human life. Historical events help us understand the development of human sexuality.
Thanks to medical discoveries, mainly in the second half of the 20th century, there was not only a marked improvement in the awareness of sexual dysfunctions, but especially further development of treatment methods of sexual disorders. In spite of that, human sexuality is surrounded with a number of myths and prejudices.
Little attention is devoted to sexual education within the Czech education system. Anatomy and physiology of sexual functions and reproduction help understand their pathology.
With increasing lifespan, there are more diseases: cardiovascular, oncological, musculoskeletal, and also accidents. They can result in transitory or even permanent impairment of sexual functioning.
The number of sexual dysfunctions grows in response to a faster pace of life. There are also more cases of sexual disharmony between partners.
At the same time, the topic of sexuality is still a taboo within our health system.
