Abstract

In case vascular erectile dysfunction is diagnosed a urologist should assess the presence of risk factors for atherosclerosis. For this purpose cooperation between urologists and internal medicine specialists/general practitioners represents a feasible and useful way of patients' management.

Importantly, the role of urologists in identification of patients with increased cardiovascular risk is crucial as erectile dysfunction might be the only symptom of early atherosclerosis and the only motivation for the patients to seek medical attention.
