Export focus of the Czechoslovak glass industry and its influence on the economic development of this industry between the years 1918-1938 (with emphasis on the Jablonec nad Nisou region)

Abstract

The glass industry was one of the most important export industries in the interwar Czechoslovakia. Export focus of the Czechoslovak glass industry influenced significantly its economic development and the social status of glassmakers.

Dependence on trade with foreign countries did glass industry very vulnerable, because this industry subjected easily to economic changes in foreign markets. This handicap is mainly reflected in the first half of the thirties, in a time of economic crisis.

One of the most important areas of glass production in Czechoslovakia between the years 1918-1938 was Jablonec nad Nisou region, whose production has contributed significantly to exports of glassware from Czechoslovakia.
