Abstract
When considering the framework of this book, important people working in the field of cardiology in the Czech Republic were consulted, with the intention of publishing original works by these authors, which would reflect current developments in various subfields of cardiology. The introduction is devoted to the issue of new recommendations issued by the European Society of Cardiology, as presented at the latest ESC convention in Barcelona and their implementation in everyday clinical practice.
Further passages comment on the results of important clinical studies, the results of which will undoubtedly significantly influence the strategy of treatment of cardiovascular diseases, for example in treatment of atherosclerosis, hypertension and heart failure. Practical aspects of the book are emphasised, which will make these current issues accessible to young physicians preparing for their attestation exams, to cardiologists and internists in everyday practice and generally to everyone interested in the field.
