Antibiotic treatment of skin and soft tissue infections - current possibilities and limits

Abstract

Skin and soft tissue infections are a very large group of infections. Antibiotic therapy is recommended for bacterial infections only.

This review deals with the most frequent causative agents of skin and soft tissue infections and basic principles of their treatment. Laboratory diagnosis of causative agent is crucial for the right choice of antibiotics.

Antibiotic treatment should fulfill the requirements of in vitro activity and clinical efficacy.
