This paper is focused on economical and social development of rural settlement in province Moesia Inferior under the roman rule. Villa rustica is presented not just as a new architectural type, but also as a new economical unit, that could be identified as a repercussion of romanization.

The problematic of the rural landscape will be presented in a new perspective: economical and social context with focusing on Limes and roman military presence in Moesia Inferior. When Moesia Inferior was integrated into Roman Empire villa rustica and roman vicus became an important part of rural society, that had to support agriculture and economical development of a new land.

There is presentation of basic typology of villa rustica which is adapted to local specifics. The development of the roman rural settlement will be presented in a contex of presence of roman veterans which intesively integrated roman cultural and economical element into provincial society.
