Poetry and Music of St. Gregory of Narek as a Mirror of Armenian History in the Second Millenium

Abstract

We describe the evolution of perceptions of the legacy of St. Gregory of Narek over the second millenium, with the corpus serving as a mirror of the mindsets of the various communities and readerships; the analysis also sheds light on aspects of the corpus itself that laid it open to diverse interpretation.
