Monopol, candles and wax manufacture as an atypical case of promotional activities of Trade Bank

Abstract

The paper is devoted to an atypical case of promotional activities of Trade Bank, which was the establishment of a joint-stock company Monopol, candles and wax manufacture, in 1903, on the basis of conversion from the former company of František Sezemský in Mladá Boleslav to a joint-stock company. The specificity of founding Monopol was that it was not a voluntary act of the bank, but a step forced by circumstances.

Then the evolution of Monopol is briefly analysed in the context of its relation to Trade Bank until 1920, when the factories of the mentioned company were incorporated in the newly established company Saponia, the Czech united joint-stock factory making soap and candles.
